Sue Williams, ND

Dr. Sue Williams grew up in Iowa and earned her BA in Psychology at University of Iowa. She is a 2001 graduate of the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona, and is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP). She specializes in treating patients with autoimmune diseases, Chronic Fatigue Hepatitis, cancer, COPD, weight management and women’s health.

Over the past 13 years, Dr. Williams has incorporated constitutional hydrotherapy, homeopathy, botanical medicine, and epigenitic support, along with nutrition, mind-body medicine and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy into her individualized patient treatments. Dr. Williams is delving into the emerging field of epigenetics, increasing her knowledge of the cofactors that regulate gene activity. Once she uncovers the agents that may be preventing optimal health such as viral, bacterial and fungal infections, she then looks into individual gene variations creating nutrition and supplement recommendations to prompt healthy gene expression. By activating metabolic pathways or inactivating detrimental pathways so that individuals can thrive. The epigenetic field is in its infancy, and medically we are just embarking on understanding genetic variants and how to nutritionally support them.

Dr. Williams embraces her mission of helping men and women alike stay healthy and balanced. Whether it is with her extensive knowledge of supplementation, ability to balance prescription medications with natural remedies, knowledge of ideal range values for blood chemistry, or her understanding of hormone interactions and genetic impacts on the body she always strives to treat the root of the problem without suppressing symptoms. No matter what a patient is suffering from, she works with them to heal their entire life- from the foods they eat, to the activities they participate in, and the thoughts they think, to achieve whole-body restoration for each particular patient.

Prior to moving to the D.C. metro area with her family in 2012, Dr. Williams’ private practice was in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Williams was Medical Director of Southwest Center of HIV/AIDS, from 2008-2012. She was also adjunct faculty at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM). During her tenure was the student clinic supervisor at the Kirk Baxter Wellness Center at Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS and taught HIV/Virology. Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Williams spent seven years in NYC working with HIV positive individuals.
